Why do the SAT reading answer choices all look correct
It shows up as a passage, a question that asks for one specific thing, and four choices that all sound like the passage.
The trap
Three of the choices are usually true, and some of them are lifted almost word for word from the passage, which is exactly why students pick them. One is the finding and one is the caveat, and both feel safe because you can point at the line that says them. Neither answers the question that was asked. The fourth catches a different student, the one who remembers roughly what the passage was about and fills in a detail the text never gave.
The rule
Reread the question before you touch the choices. On this test the wrong answers are usually true, and only one of them answers what was asked.
If it keeps happening
When this one fires three tests running, the student is answering from memory of the passage rather than from the question, and the fix is a habit that takes about a week to build if someone is checking. For a student in the 1000s it is the first thing we would fix in Reading and Writing, because it is the most common trap in the section at that score.
